About once a week the three-toed sloth (Bradypus variegatus), one of the most common rainforest mammals, descends to the forest floor to defecate. This individual seems a little embarrassed having been caught in the act.

 


 

The colourful nightlife of the Caribbean…. The bright array of colours displayed by red-eyed tree frogs (Agalychnis callidryas) can be fully appreciated when it becomes active at nightfall, searching for food or a possible mate. During the day it rests clinging to a branch with eyelids closed and a subtle change in skin tone helps it blend into the surroundings.
